When buying boys clothing there are some things that you have to remember. It must be strong and durable, but must also be fashionable so the boy will want to wear it. If they do not like it they will not wear it.
Jeans never go out of style so a safe bet when buying clothing for boys is to stock up on jeans. Basic colors such as stonewashed, bleached and black are good choices. If you go for fashion colors, they may be fine for the season but may be completely unacceptable for the next season. For going out to dinner or a party, a couple of pair of khaki’s are good to have on hand for any boys clothing closet.

When shopping for tops in boy’s clothing, look for T-shirts, in both solid colors and a few with characters or sports that the boy likes. Sweatshirts are great for cooler weather, many companies make sweatshirts with sporting teams on them. In addition, hooded sweatshirts or hoodies, are another favorite for boys and they are comfortable and warm. Nike and Champion make some very good quality hooded sweatshirts. A couple of polo shirts and a button down shirt for dressier occasions should be bought. It will be hard for any young man to want to wear a shirt and tie, but if you can get them on sale then it will not hurt as muck if they do not get used.
Footwear for boys is almost always tennis shoes, new ones seem to come out weekly and get put on the must have list, one pair of Nike’s or Reeboks in either white or black will go with all outfits just fine. Basketball sneakers are available at all boys retailers, but you will need to find out who the leading brand is before you shop. If you go with the trendy color schemes that continuously seem to be coming out, you run the risk of having a pair of tennis shoes that clash with most of his clothes. In colder weather, a pair of work like boots is nice to have and a pair of snow boots for playing in the snow too should be a part of any boys clothing.
Also in the winter a winter jacket that has a zip out liner and zip off hood is good, this way you can zip in the warmer liner on the extra cold days, and take it out when it is not as cold out. This way he will be more likely to keep it on when out playing in the schoolyard. Go shopping with a list and a plan and it will be much easier on you. Boys clothing can be used as hand me downs for the next youngest boy so be sure to think if the quality of clothing will make it to next child.
